Aluminum foil is a good material for making face masks.Jupiterimages/Photos.com/Getty Images
Prepare your work surface by covering it with plastic or wax paper. - 2). Tear off a piece of aluminum foil twice as long as the wearer's face.
- 3). Fold the foil horizontally in half.
- 4). Put the foil on the wearer's face. Make sure to cover the forehead, cheeks and chin.
- 5). Press the foil gently over the face. Make sure to press around the contours of the eyes, nose, cheeks, lips and chin so that the shape of wearer's face begins to show through the foil.
- 6). Remove the foil from the face carefully to avoid disfiguring the foil.
- 7). Cover the foil face mold with four to five layers of paper mache. Let each layer dry before putting another.
- 8). Remove the mask from the foil when dry.

Keep hair away from the wearer's face by pulling it back with clips or tying it. - 2). Apply a thin coat of petroleum jelly on the face, and a thicker coat around the wearer's hairline, on the eyebrows and on facial hair.
- 3). Dip the plaster bandages in the bowl of room temperature water. Squeeze out the excess water.
- 4). Put the bandages over the face starting at the forehead, then around the perimeter of the face. Overlap strips as you put the bandages.
- 5). Cut smaller strips for shaping around the nose.
- 6). Cover the face completely and evenly, but leave the eyes uncovered. Make sure to keep the shape of the face's contours. Save some room for the nostrils. Let dry for 5 minutes.
- 7). Take off the mask from the wearer's face carefully. Check to see that all areas are covered, and if necessary put more plaster bandages in lightly filled areas.
- 8). Dry the mask overnight.
- 9). Paint the face mask using acrylic paint.

You can use newsprint in the same way you would use paper mache to make facemasks.Comstock/Comstock/Getty Images
Press a sheet of newsprint against the wearer's face. - 2). Crumple the newsprint under the jaw, the nose and the eyebrows to imprint the wearer's face.
- 3). Tape around the face starting from the chin, along the side of the face and then along the top of the head. Connect the tapes together.
- 4). Tape across the face at the eyebrows, over the nose bridge and under the nose and below the mouth. Continue gently pressing the paper on the face and taping the newsprint to show the wearer's contours clearly.
- 5). Add smaller and shorter strips of masking tape to define the features more clearly. Smooth the ends of the tape down.
- 6). Check that you have contoured all the facial features.
- 7). Remove the mask carefully from the wearer's face.
- 8). Strengthen the mask by continuing to tape the exterior surface and then the interior surface of the mask. Be careful not to flatten out the features and make the surface as smooth as possible.
- 9). Cut away the excess newsprint beyond the outline of the face.
