Ford Minivan Radio Removal Instructions

    Ford Freestar

    • 1). Disconnect the negative battery cable (indicated by a minus sign) before beginning. This will prevent an accidental short circuit and electrical shock.

    • 2). Insert a flat-bladed trim tool into the top-center part of the radio/climate panel. Pry the top part of the panel off, then grasp it with your hands and pull it away.

    • 3). Unplug the connections behind the panel (emergency flashers and climate control switches).

    • 4). Remove the four 7mm bolt-screws with a Phillips screwdriver or a ratchet. Pull the radio out and unplug the antenna and radio wiring harness.

    Ford Windstar

    • 1). Disconnect the negative battery cable (indicated with a minus sign) before beginning. This will prevent an accidental short circuit and electrical shock.

    • 2). Insert the "U" Ford radio tools into the Windstar's radio (one in each side). Push the tools forward until you hear a "click."

    • 3). Push the "U" tools outward (to the sides) to disengage the radio's internal clips. Grasp onto the tools (while still pushing outward) and pull to remove the radio from its mount.

    • 4). Unplug the antenna cable and the radio wiring harness from behind.
