- A fairy costume can transform a little girl into a magical creature in a matter of seconds. You can make fairy wings by bending wire coat hangers into wing shapes and stretching white nylon stockings over them. You can make the wings even more magical by adding sparkles and maybe a silk flower head or two. With the addition of two pieces of elastic to the wings, your little girl can put her arms through them and flutter around. Of course, the costume wouldn't be complete without a matching fairy wand made from a silver-painted dowel stick with a heart or star cardboard cutout at the end. Some ribbon streamers provide the finishing touch.
- Losing a tooth is a big event in a child's life. You can celebrate the occasion by making a soft pillow for the lost tooth so the tooth fairy can easily find it under your child's pillow. A pretty fabric will form the basis for the small pillow stuffed with cotton batting then add a pocket to one side of the pillow and embellish it with lace or ribbon. You can even applique a fairy image onto the pillow or embroider the words, "My Tooth," on the front. When your child loses a tooth, have her put it in the pillow pocket and she should find a treat there instead the next morning.
- Fairies can live practically anywhere, but little girls will enjoy creating a beautiful abode for their fairy friends. Any small box, such as a shoebox or pencil box, can be turned into a suitable fairy house. You can paint the exterior a lively color, such as pink, and cover the interior walls with patterned wallpaper. Small paperclip boxes and similar-sized containers, along with acorns, pieces of moss and pine cones, can create furniture for the house. Your child can test out the new fairy house by moving some dolls in for some imaginative play while she waits for fairies to visit.
- You can help your favorite little girl paint a picture of a fairy, then scan the image into the computer, print it on iron-on transfer paper and iron the image onto a T-shirt for your little girl to wear. She can pick out embellishments to add a personal sense of fashion, such as buttons, jewels and fabric paint. Stickers are an easy way to create a fairy-themed card to give to a friend; just don't forget to add some metallic confetti to the envelope to serve as pixie dust
