- 1). Disconnect any peripheral devices from your computer other than the mouse and keyboard. Remove any CDs or DVDs from the disk drive. Disconnect any external drives connected to the PC. Connect your AC adapter to the computer if you are using a laptop.
- 2). Restart the computer. Hold down "F8" while the computer reboots and before the Windows logo screen appears.
- 3). Use the directional pad on your keyboard to select the option "Repair your computer." Hit "Enter."
- 4). Choose your keyboard layout from the options. Click "Next." Select your login name, then enter your password. Click "OK."
- 5). Click "Startup Repair" from "System Recovery Options." Follow the onscreen guide to search for and repair any startup problems.
