About.com Rating
Microsoft OneNote offers its fair share of convenience and sharing tools, but may be missing some you want. Check out these details.
The following are rated on a scale of Excellent, Good, or Poor.
Cloud Integration: Excellent
OneNote integrates with Microsoft's OneDrive (or OneDrive for Business) cloud environment.
Collaborative Editing: Excellent
OneNote does not offer real-time edits from multiple authors, but others can edit notes you share with them.
Online to Offline Editing: Excellent
While more options are offered in the Premium version, offline syncing and syncing to other devices is available in the free version of Evernote as well.
Presentation: Excellent
OneNote features a full-page view you for sharing ideas with others, which you can read more about here.
Sharing and Social: Excellent
Thanks to the Zapier app, users can connect OneNote with popular social networks. As shown on Page 2 of this review, users can also share with email. For example, you could mail notes to me@onenote.com and Microsoft will place them in a notebook for you.
Templates: Excellent
While it would be great to see even more OneNote templates in Microsoft's online bank (dozens are available there), users will likely appreciate the Page Templates right within the app.
A Final Recommendation for OneNote
Please know that this review summarizes features I feel consumers are most concerned with when selecting note taking software for home or business use. Please refer to this manufacturer's site before finalizing your download or purchase.
