- 1). Make 31 chain stitches. To do this, make a slip stitch on your hook, then bring the yarn up and over the hook from the back to the front. Catch the yarn in the hook and pull it through the loop on your hook, then repeat for the rest of the chain stitches.
- 2). Use a slip stitch to join the first and last stitch together to form a circle. Bring the last chain around to meet the first. Be careful not to twist the chains. Insert the hook through the first chain you made, bring the yarn over the hook and draw it through both stitches.
- 3). Make one chain stitch, and then make one single crochet stitch for a total of 30 single crochet stitches. Use a slip stitch to join the two ends to make a circle, the same way you joined the chains in step 2. Repeat this step for a total of eight rounds.
- 4). Make one chain stitch and then make one single crochet stitch in each of the first six stitches. Make one chain stitch and turn your work, then make one single crochet stitch back across those first six stitches. Make one chain stitch, turn, and single crochet two together. Then, single crochet across to the last two stitches and single crochet two together once more, for a total of four stitches. Make one chain stitch and turn your piece. Single crochet stitch two together in each of the pairs of stitches in this row, then repeat one last time for a total of one stitch. Fasten off with a slip stitch, and cut your working yarn, leaving a 4-inch tail.
- 5). Join your yarn with a slip stitch to the first, single crochet stitch of the initial crown band following the crown point that you made in step 4. Repeat step 4 again, making a second point in your crown. Repeat this three more times to make a total of five crown points.
- 6). Weave in all of the loose ends of your yarn using a large-eye blunt needle. Then, wear your crown with pride!
