- 1). Empty all food from the feeder into the trash. Rinse the inside of the feeder out with water to eliminate any stuck-on debris.
- 2). Fill the sink with enough hot water to saturate all of the top feeder. Next, add 1 to 2 tbsp of dish soap into the liquid.
- 3). Dunk the entire top feeder into the soapy water. Soak the feeder for 30 to 60 minutes.
- 4). Scrub the top feeder with the brush until you don't see mold on the feeder. Rinse the feeder and the sink with tap water.
- 5). Fill the sink with hot water and bleach. The Clorox website recommends using 2/3 cup bleach with 1 gallon of hot water.
- 6). Soak the feeder for 10 to 20 minutes. The solution helps deter mold from returning.
- 7). Rinse the feeder thoroughly with tap water. Wipe it completely dry with paper towels or a cloth. Make sure the feeder is completely dry before using it again to prevent mold from returning.
