- 1). Begin with two chain stitches, and make five single crochet stitches in the second chain from the hook, joining with a slip stitch to form a circle. Increase your circle in the next round by making two single crochet stitches in every stitch around, for a total of 10 stitches. Increase the next round by making one single crochet in the first stitch followed by two in the next stitch, and repeating this pattern around for a total of 15 stitches. For the next round, increase by making one single crochet stitch in the first two stitches followed by two in the next and repeating this pattern around for a total of 20 stitches. Continue to increase your circle in this manner until you have 40 stitches around.
- 2). Crochet evenly around for the next five rounds. This means you will make one single crochet stitch in every stitch around. For the next round, decrease your stitches; to do this, make a single crochet two together stitch for every stitch you made two single crochets in one when you were increasing. So, for example, your first round would have a pattern of making six single crochet stitches followed by a single crochet two together stitch around, for a total of 35 stitches. Decrease in this manner until you have 20 stitches.
- 3). Work evenly around your 20 stitches for five rounds. Then increase the next two rounds for a total of 30 stitches, following the same method you used when you started the cover. Crochet evenly around these 30 stitches for 10 rounds, then fasten off and cut your working yarn. Make a slip stitch to secure the yarn, then use a large eye blunt needle to weave in the loose ends.
