- 1). Lay the house address numbers out on a piece of graph paper, and position them with the correct spacing---that is, the way you want them to look when they are hung.
- 2). Mark the position of the numbers on the paper by using a pencil to apply a mark through the nail holes at the top and bottom of the numbers onto the paper.
- 3). Tape the graph paper over the surface of the area where you want to hang the house address numbers.
- 4). Place the tip of a nail on one of the pencil marks you made designating a nail hole in one of the numbers and, using a hammer, lightly tap the nail to mark the surface on which you are going to hang the number.
- 5). Repeat step 4 for each of the marks on the graph paper until you have made a mark on the hanging surface for the top and bottom of each number.
- 6). Remove the graph paper and use tack nails and a hammer to secure each number to the mounting surface in the set marks you made with the nail until all the numbers are attached.
