- 1). Wet a rag or sponge in a cleaning mixture made from one part rubbing alcohol and one part water. Wipe down the moldy fabric, removing as much of the mold as possible. Throw the rag or sponge away when finished.
- 2). Move the furniture outdoors in the sun for three or four hours. This an effective way to kill a small amount of mold, according to Kansas State University. Note, though, that sunlight can fade fabric, so if this is a concern, do not remove mold in this manner.
- 3). Make suds with a laundry detergent and water. Then, apply the suds to the fabric furniture and wipe it clean with a damp rag or sponge. Again, discard the rag or sponge away when finished.
- 4). Hire a professional cleaner that specializes in removing mold, especially if the mold is growing in areas where you can not effectively clean. According to the American Environmental Health Foundation, try looking in the phone book or online under the "Exterminating and Fumigating" or "Pest Control" listings.
