- 1). Paint the walls in your room with a color to complement your decorating items. If your decorating items have greens and pinks, possibly you may wish to paint your walls light beige.
- 2). Place area rugs in your room, as this prevents you from having to remove your current flooring. Select area rugs to complement your other decorative items in the room. This remodels the look and feel to your floor and prevents you from spending a large amount of money on new flooring.
- 3). Turn off the power to your current light fixture at your home's circuit box. Remove your current light fixture by removing the screws holding it in place with your screwdriver. Untwist the wires from the light fixture and in your ceiling and set it aside.
- 4). Install your new light fixture according to the manufacturer's directions. Typically, you connect the wires from the light fixture to the wires in your ceiling together according to color--red to red and black to black. Secure the light fixture with the screws provided. Turn your power back on and test the light fixture.
- 5). Hang window treatments over the windows in your room. Select window treatments to accent and complement your other decorative items in the room. Measure the window before purchasing your new window treatment with a tape measure as this prevents you from purchasing the wrong-size window treatments for your room.
