How to Make Paper Mache Bowling Pins Out of a Wine Bottle

    • 1). Rinse out the bottles thoroughly. Allow them to dry completely.

    • 2). Mix one part flour with one to two parts water to make paper mache paste. It should be about as thick as white craft glue.

    • 3). Tear the newspaper into strips about an inch wide and a few inches long.

    • 4). Dip the strips one at a time into the paste and layer them onto the bottle until it is covered.

Add more strips onto the bottle, allowing them to dry after every four layers.

    • 6). Add extra layers of paper mache on the bottom half of the bottle and at its top to create the curves of a bowling pin. Create smooth curves by alternating horizontally oriented layers, which add thickness, with diagonally oriented layers, which mask the transitions between areas of different thickness.

    • 7). Wait for the paper mache to dry. Paint the bowling pin white with two horizontal red stripes at the neck.
