Troubleshooting the Bissell Proheat Pro Tech

    • 1). Use only Bissell brand deep cleaning formulas in the machine, as the use of non-Bissell formulas may cause the machine to function poorly and can void the warranty.

    • 2). Check that the ProTech has been properly plugged into a grounded electrical outlet and the power is turned on in order for the device to work properly. In addition, check that the "SmartTemp" power button is "ON" in order for the machine to heat the water and cleaning formula. If the "SmartTemp" button is not on, the solution will not heat properly and the machine will not clean effectively.

    • 3). Check the straw and o-ring on the neck of the "SmartMix" bottle if it is leaking to ensure that both are aligned properly and screwed on tightly.

    • 4). Fill both the "SmartMix Bottle" and the water tank for every use. The machine will not function correctly if either is low or empty. If using the "Water Rinse" setting, fill the "SmartMix" bottle with water instead of cleaning solution.

    • 5). Fill the water tank with clean, hot water from the sink. Do not boil or heat water, as this can damage the tank and cause the machine to malfunction.

    • 6). Remove the tank after using the ProTech and lift up the tank lid. Clean the lint screen and rinse and clean the tank. If the filter or tank is dirty, the ProTech will have reduced cleaning effectiveness.

    • 7). Vacuum carpets with a standard vacuum before using the ProTech in order to achieve the deepest possible cleaning and to prevent the lint screen from becoming clogged with dirt and debris.

    • 8). Rinse the "Turbo Brush" with water and a soft brush after use to prevent clogging or obstruction from dirt or debris.

    • 9). Turn the machine "OFF" if the pump trigger is not working properly. Wait one minute and turn back on. Resume use.

Check the belts on the bottom of the machine on a regular basis to make sure the belts are not cracked or broken, which will cause the machine to malfunction. Replace belts if necessary.
