How to Draw for Kids On Line

    • 1). Surf to one of the drawing applets listed in this article's Resources section. Refer to the applet's documentation for instructions on how to activate the applet for drawing.

    • 2). Begin creating a house. Select your applet's rectangle or square tool, and use it to draw a square at least three inches on its smallest side.

    • 3). Add a roof to the house. Select the applet's triangle tool, and use it to add an upward-pointing triangle to the top of step 2's square. Be sure to make the left and right sides of the triangle the same length.

    • 4). Add windows and front door. Re-select the rectangle tool, then draw a small rectangle in the upper left corner of the main house square. Draw a similar-sized rectangle in the upper right corner of the main square. Draw the front door as a rectangle extending upward from the center of the main square's bottom edge.

    • 5). Make a landscape surrounding the house. Select your applet's tool for freehand pen drawing, then use it to draw an oval surrounding the house. Make the oval as large as your applet's canvas permits. Inside the oval, draw large, upside-down "U"s to illustrate hills near the house.

    • 6). Begin making a car. In a clear area of your drawing, or in a new drawing, use the freehand pen tool to create a fairly long wedge shape.

    • 7). Add wheels. Use your applet's circle tool to draw two side-by-side circles straddling the wedge's bottom edge. Make hubcaps by drawing smaller circles inside the first two.

    • 8). Make the driver's cabin. Draw a long, upside down "U" whose bottom points connect to the top edge of the wedge.

    • 9). Make a plane's fuselage. Use your applet's freehand pen tool to draw a fairly long oval that extends up and to the right.

    • 10

Form the plane's wings. Draw an oval that starts above and slightly to the right of the fuselage's left end, then extends down and right, crossing the fuselage slightly left of its center. Be sure the right wing is as long as the left.

    • 11

Create the plane's stabilizer. Draw a small oval that starts above and slightly to the left of the fuselage's right end, then extends down and right to cross the fuselage. Be sure the oval is parallel to the wing, and that the oval's left and right sides are equal in length.

    • 12

Make the rudder. Draw a small oval that sits atop the fuselage's right end.
