How to Make a Real-Looking Scar

    • 1). Paint a thin layer of liquid latex onto your mirror in the desired shape and size of the scar. Allow it to dry and apply a second layer.

    • 2). Pull apart a cotton ball or piece of tissue paper and stick it onto the liquid latex to build up the scar to its desired 3D shape. If making a knife-wound scar, build up two narrow pieces of cotton or paper on each side of the latex, leaving a valley in the middle.

    • 3). Paint a thin layer of liquid latex over the cotton or paper and allow it to dry. Continue painting layers of latex until you can no longer see the cotton or paper underneath. You can build up the latex unevenly to make the scar look rougher, if desired. Allow the latex to dry between layers.

    • 4). Peel the dry latex scar off of the mirror carefully. Brush liquid latex on your skin where you want to place the scar. The latex should be the same size and shape as the fake scar.

    • 5). Apply the fake scar to the wet latex, smooth side down. Brush additional latex over the edges of the scar to make it even with your skin. Wait for the scar to dry.

    • 6). Apply concealer or face paint over the scar. For a "fresh scar" look, blend concealer with red or purple face paint to make it look reddish or bruised. You can use blush, lipstick or eye shadow if you don't have face paint.

    • 7). Brush fake blood onto strategic areas of the scar, such as pits and valleys. You can use commercial fake blood or make a realistic homemade version with clear corn syrup, red and blue food coloring and peanut butter.
