- 1). Measure the length of the walls and mark down the measurements for each wall on a piece of paper.
- 2). Begin cutting the sections of trim to size on a miter saw with the blade at a 45-degree angle. Cut all the inside corner edges at the same time and then tilt the saw blade to the opposite 45-degree angle for the outward corners.
- 3). Lay the first cut piece of trim up against the wall it belongs on. Tack the section of trim in place using finishing nails that are the same color as your trim. Pound the nails straight into the drywall carefully using a hammer with the nails centered in the trim. Use a nail at both ends and at every stud in the wall. Use a stud finder to locate the studs.
- 4). Line the next section up with the first section so they are completely in line with each other. Tack that section to the wall and continue lining the sections up with each other until the entire room is complete.
- 5). Fill any gaps that may show up at the corners using a caulk gun with caulk that's the same color as your trim.
