- 1). Fill a sink with hot water and submerge the cast-iron grill.
- 2). Scrape away any stuck food with a spoon. Clean the grill with a sponge, but don't use an abrasive material such as steel wool. Excess scrubbing may strip away seasoning on the pan.
- 3). Drain the water and rinse the grill. Dry it with a cloth.
- 4). Apply a thin layer of oil to the entire surface of the grill with a cloth. You can use either melted shortening, vegetable oil or cooking spray. Rub away any excess with the cloth.
