- 1). Purge WINE. Click "Applications," then "Accessories" and then "Terminal." At the terminal prompt, type the following command: (without quotes) "sudo apt-get remove --purge wine" and then press the "Enter" key. Close the terminal when done.
- 2). Remove the ".wine" folder in the "Home" directory. Click "Places," then "Home Folder." Next, in the top panel menu, click "View" and then click "Show hidden files." Right-click on the ".wine" folder and then click "Move to Trash" in the short-cut menu that appears. Close out back to the desktop when done.
- 3). Open Synaptic Package Manager. Click "System," then "Administration" and then "Synaptic Package Manager." Type your user account password when prompted and then press the "Enter" key.
- 4). Download a new instance of WINE. Click "Search," and then type "wine" (without quotes) in the "Search" form field. Right-click on the word "wine" in the "Package" field and then click on "Mark for Installation." Click "OK." Finally, click the "Apply" button, and then click "OK" to reinstall WINE.
