How to Take Candle Wax Stains Off a Knotty Pine Dresser

  • 1). Cut a section of brown paper bag that will fit over the dripped candle wax. Set the brown paper piece directly onto the affected area.

  • 2). Heat the area with a blow dryer. Hold the blow dryer directly above the affected area and move it back and forth to create an even heat for 30 seconds. Continue to blast the affected area with the blow dryer until you begin to notice the candle wax melt, and then transfer it from the knotty pine dresser to the brown paper.

  • 3). Lift a corner of the brown paper and examine the knotty pine dresser. If the wax is completely gone, remove the brown paper. If not, continue to heat the brown paper for 30-second intervals until the wax is completely removed and has been absorbed into the brown paper.

  • 4). Wet the corner of a white cloth with rubbing alcohol. Rub at the stain with the alcohol until it is completely removed.

  • 5). Cover the newly cleaned area with a light coating of spray or cream furniture polish. Work the furnish polish into the knotty pine dresser according to the label's directions.
