- 1). Prevent buildup of soap scum, mildew and hard water stains by clearing all the water from the shower's walls and floor with a rubber squeegee. It's best to do this each time the shower is used.
- 2). Use a non-acidic cleanser to remove soap scum from the granite. Acidic cleaners will etch the stone's surface and ruin it. Many commercial soap-scum removers are not intended for stone, so read the directions carefully. Dilute the cleaning fluid according to the instructions and wipe it on the stained areas with a soft cloth. Rinse it thoroughly and dry it with a soft towel.
- 3). Use a 1/2 cup of ammonia or hydrogen peroxide mixed with a gallon of water to clean mildew stains from a granite shower. Scrub the stained areas with a soft cloth, rinse well and dry with a soft towel.
- 4). Gently buff away hard water stains with dry steel wool. Use the finest steel wool you can find, preferably 000.
