- 1). Gently remove the seeds from the oranges with your fingers, taking care not to damage the seed coverings. Wash the seeds under cool running water to remove natural residues. Soak the orange seeds in a glass of water overnight.
- 2). Fold a paper towel in half three times. Set it on a flat working surface.
- 3). Spritz the paper towel with water from the plastic spray bottle to moisten it slightly. Open the top fold and spread several orange seeds under it. Fold the paper towel back into place over the top of the seeds. Gently set the towel inside a folding top sandwich bag. Don't close the top of the bag.
- 4). Set the packaged orange seeds in a warm location, about 70 to 75 degrees F, so that they will germinate. The top of your refrigerator or a windowsill are good choices.
- 5). Check the orange seeds a couple times daily to make sure that the paper towel remains moist, but not dripping wet. Spritz the paper towel with a light misting from the plastic spray bottle of water when the towel dries out.
- 6). Gently transplant each orange seedling into its own individual 4-inch pot filled with ordinary potting soil when the root, a stem and two leaves appear.
- 7). Moisten the surface of the soil with the spray bottle and set the pots into a shallow tray of water.
- 8). Set the tray near a window where the baby orange trees will receive lots of filtered sunlight.
