- 1). Control the humidity level in your home. Humidity causes moisture in the air, which can also damage your new oak floors. It can be controlled with a dehumidifier.
- 2). Dry up any liquid spills immediately with a soft cloth. Standing liquid, including water, can warp and damage your new oak floors.
- 3). Dry mop your new oak floors to clean them. You can also use a floor duster to remove surface dust and debris.
- 4). Use a mild wood floor cleaner to clean spills or grime from your new oak floors.
- 5). Rinse the cleaner with a very damp mop. Squeeze out as much water as you can, and dry the oak floor immediately.
