How to Remove Tarnish From Polished Nickel

    Vinegar Solution

    • 1). Mix 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of vinegar in a spray bottle.

    • 2). Spray the polished nickel object with the solution. Allow the solution to sit on the object for 30 seconds.

    • 3). Dampen a clean, soft cloth with water. Wipe the tarnish and solution off the object with the cloth.

    • 4). Repeat the process to remove any stubborn tarnish.

    • 5). Dry the nickel object with a soft cloth.

    Ammonia Solution

    • 1). Make a solution of warm, distilled water and dish soap.

    • 2). Dip a soft toothbrush into the solution, and scrub away tarnish from the polished nickel.

    • 3). Pour three parts ammonia to one part distilled water into a bowl or cup.

    • 4). Dip the soft toothbrush into the ammonia solution, and use it to scrub away any stubborn tarnish.
