- 1). Put on rubber overshoe boots.
- 2). Combine one part Portland cement for every three parts masonry sand in a wheelbarrow until the wheelbarrow is full.
- 3). Wet the dry Portland cement and masonry sand lightly with a hose, then mix thoroughly with a masonry hoe. Add more water as necessary while continually mixing until you have a mud-type consistency.
- 4). Pour a can of concrete bonding agent over the old concrete slab going from the corner to the entry. Spread the bonding agent evenly with a paint roller as you pour it over the existing concrete slab.
- 5). Roll the wheelbarrow to the farthest corner in the room. Tilt the wheelbarrow up and begin to pour out the wet concrete, walking toward the entrance.
- 6). Mix and pour more wet concrete as needed until the entire floor has been covered, then smooth the wet concrete with a screed, again working from the far corner in the room to the entrance.
- 7). Allow the wet concrete to dry for at least 24 hours before walking on it. Apply a coat of masonry sealer by pouring the concrete sealer into a paint tray and spreading it over the concrete with a roller. Let the sealer dry for 24 hours as well, then install tile, laminate, hardwood or carpet over the new concrete slab.
