How to Remove Adhesive Window Signs

    • 1). Fill a spray bottle with a mixture of 50 percent water and 50 percent white vinegar. Spray the mixture onto the adhesive sign. Allow to sit for 10 minutes.

    • 2). Find a loose corner of the adhesive and start to peel it off. If it comes off right away, then no other removal method is necessary. However, if it is stubborn, additional removal tips will help.

    • 3). Pry the sign away from the window with putty knife or razor blade. If the adhesive still feels tightly bonded to the window, spray it with WD-40. Rub the WD-40 into the adhesive sign with a sponge. Allow to sit for 10 to 30 minutes.

    • 4). Peel away the adhesive sign from the window. The WD-40 should weaken the adhesive enough to remove it from the window. Use the putty knife to scrape away difficult spots where the WD-40 did not reach.

    • 5). Spray the sign with a commercial adhesive remover and allow to sit for 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the package directions. The adhesive sign will peel right off after applying the commercial adhesive remover.

    • 6). Clean the window by spraying it with the vinegar and water solution and rubbing with a soft cloth. This will remove any remaining adhesive residue.
