How to Manage Start Up Programs in Windows XP

    • 1). Click on the "Start" icon and click on "Run..." on the Start Menu.

    • 2). Type "msconfig" in the allotted space and press the "Enter" key or click on "OK." This command will start the Microsoft System Configuration Utility.

    • 3). Click on the "Startup" tab to see a list of the programs that are set to run at start-up. All of the programs should be checked.

    • 4). Uncheck the programs that you don't want to run at start-up. This will speed up your boot time.

    • 5). Click on "Apply" and "OK" to confirm your changes and then close the Microsoft System Configuration Utililty.
