How to Draw a Facial Expression of Serenity

    • 1). Begin by sketching an ovular outline for the head and adding guidelines for the eyes, nose and mouth.

    • 2). Sketch an almond-shape for the eyes. When drawing the eyelids, do not make them too droopy so as to not make the person look sleepy. Keep in mind, however, that you also do not want the person to look too excited or over-caffeinated, so do not make the eyes too wide open. You may also choose to draw the eyes lightly closed, with the eyelashes just brushing upon the lower lid or cheek.

    • 3). Draw in the eyebrows so that they are fairly straight across, except for a slight natural arch if desired. Eyebrows that arch too far inward will give the face an angry expression, while those that arch upward will look worried.

    • 4). Draw the mouth in a straight line, with perhaps a hint of a smile. Keep the lips relatively full and the cheeks and chin free of stress lines that might suggest a tightly-closed mouth.
