Kitchen Cleaning Materials

    Washing Dishes

    • You will need to wash you dirty dishes daily to keep them clean. Basic supplies include a sink or dishpan filled with hot water, dish detergent, a fresh sponge or washcloth, a scouring pad and powder for the tough stuff, and a rack for draining the wet dishes. A dishwasher can do much of the work, but you will need to prepare the dishes that go into the machine and hand-wash some of them. And you'll need specific detergent for a dishwasher, according to the University of Tennessee Extension.

    Daily Chores

    • Your kitchen will need daily cleanup, but minimal supplies are needed. Clean the sink with scouring powder or another cleaner made for the job; use a cloth or sponge for wiping down surfaces and a broom and mop to keep the floor clean, UT Extension suggests.

    Deep Cleaning

    • The kitchen will need a more thorough cleaning occasionally to cut down on daily chores and keep the room tidy, according to the Housecleaning Tips website, which recommends a deep cleaning once a month. Supplies for such jobs include a container to keep everything together; rubber gloves; cleaners for kitchen surfaces; cloths or sponges for wiping out the refrigerator, cabinets and surfaces; oven cleaner or a self-cleaning oven; a pail; and warm water. You will also need a broom and mop for cleaning the floor, the website notes.
