How to Wash Oily Auto Towels

    • 1). Remove all obvious dirt and debris from the towels and dispose of the materials accordingly. Use rubber gloves if needed.

    • 2). Soak the rags in hot water to remove oil and grease. Do not expect all oil and grease to be removed during this process. Change the water two or three times while soaking the rags to avoid having towels sit in oily water.

    • 3). Wash the towels using detergent. This can be done by hand or in a washing machine. If using a washing machine, only launder other greasy, oily items with the towels to avoid staining good clothing and towels. This should remove the rest of the oil and grease left on the towels. If needed, wash the towels twice to return them to as close as possible to their original condition.
