- 1). Scrape as much of the dried paint from the couch as you can using a butter knife. Take care when scraping so you don’t damage the upholstery.
- 2). Combine 1 teaspoon of mild dish detergent and 1 cup of lukewarm water into a bowl. Make sure the detergent does not contain bleach or alkalies.
- 3). Wet a clean rag with the soapy water and wring it out. Dab the paint stain vigorously with the rag.
- 4). Blot with a clean, dry rag to soak up the cleaning solution. Repeat dabbing on the soapy water, then blotting with a dry rag until the paint is no longer coming off the couch onto the rag.
- 5). Dampen a clean rag with acetone if any of the paint remains. Dab the acetone onto the stain, then blot to soak up it. Repeat this process until all of the paint is gone.
- 6). Rinse the upholstery with a clean rag and cool water. Blot with another rag to dry the upholstery.
