- 1). Raise the Mustang's hood and loosen the bolt holding the grounding cable to the negative battery terminal with the 10-mm wrench. Lift the cable from the battery and set it aide. Move to the inside of the vehicle.
- 2). Insert both of the Ford DIN removal keys into the holes at the ends of the Mustang's factory stereo unit. Squeeze the prongs of the keys to align them with the holes and slide the keys into the deck until they lock into place.
- 3). Pull outward on the DIN removal keys while sliding the stereo unit from the dashboard. Pull the deck far enough from the stereo dock to make the wiring connections to the back side of the stereo reachable by hand. Disconnect the stereo wiring and antenna cable from the back of the stereo and set it aside.
- 4). Slide the new stereo's installation sleeve into the empty stereo mounting dock. Fold the metal tabs inside the sleeve outward with a flat screwdriver to secure it within the dock. Pull the stereo wiring and antenna cable from the back of the dock to the front of the Mustang's dashboard.
- 5). Plug the stereo wiring connectors into the wiring harness adapter leads. Connect the wiring harness adapter lead connectors to the outlets on the rear panel of the new stereo. Insert the antenna cable lead into the FM antenna input on the back of the aftermarket head unit.
- 6). Slide the stereo into the Ford's dashboard stereo dock until it locks within the installation sleeve. Move to the battery.
- 7). Replace the grounding cable clamp onto the Mustang's negative battery terminal post. Tighten the bolt on the cable with the wrench and close the hood.
