How to Remove Scratches on Wood

    • 1). Color a shallow scratch with a felt-tip pen. Select a pen closest to the color of the wood, and lightly mark the scratch area. Allow the area to dry for two to three hours.

    • 2). Scoop a 1/4 tsp. of wood putty that closely matches the wood onto your fingertip. Fill the scratch with the wood putty. Press it firmly into the scratch to eliminate any air bubbles.

    • 3). Wipe excess wood putty from the wood with a damp rag. If too much putty is pulled from the scratch when wiping, simply apply additional wood putty and wipe again. Avoid walking on or using the area for 24 hours to allow the putty to set properly.
