- 1). Wipe down the damaged area with hot water and a sponge, and dry the surface with a towel. Put on your safety goggles to prevent ceramic shards from flying into your eyes.
- 2). Attach the grinder bit to the rotary tool and turn on low to begin drilling.
- 3). Drill down into the crack only about one-eighth of an inch deep and one-eighth of an inch wide. Drip small amounts of water into the hole as you drill to keep the area cool and prevent dust from flying into the air. The hole should be in a U or V shape to fill completely and stop the crack from spreading.
- 4). Fill the hole with epoxy adhesive and spread the adhesive with the freezer pop stick. Overfill the crack to make sure there is enough epoxy to fill the hole completely. Allow six to seven hours for the epoxy to cure.
- 5). Gently sand the epoxied repair with the roughest sandpaper first to make the repair even with the ceramic surface and remove air bubbles. Work your way down to the lowest grit to smooth out the surface.
- 6). Clean the area with a small amount of acetone on a cotton swab, and air dry for a few minutes.
- 7). Spray on a light mist of refinishing spray, and then spray on the surface repair spray after 10 minutes. Allow 24 hours to dry completely.
