How to Make Easter Pinatas

    • 1). Mix one part water with two parts flour to create a paste. Stir in a mixing bowl with a wooden spoon or spatula. Tear sheets of newspaper into one-inch strips. Blow up a large oval-shaped balloon. Tie the end in a knot.

    • 2). Dip a strip of newspaper in the paste and lay on top of the balloon. Cover the balloon with dipped newspaper strips. Leave a small section of the balloon exposed. Let the newspaper dry.

    • 3). Repeat step two a few times. The more layers you add the tougher the shell becomes thus it becomes more difficult to break the pinata. So if the pinata is intended for younger children you'll only want to add a couple layers.

    • 4). Pop the balloon by sticking a needle through the uncovered section. Pull the balloon pieces out through the hole. Insert candy, stickers, toys or other goodies to fill the pinata.

    • 5). Patch the hole with more dipped newspaper layers. Paint the pinata to make it look like an Easter Egg. It's easiest to start by painting the entire surface one solid color and adding patterns and other details after the base coat has dried. Glue on streamers and any other decoration you would like.
