- 1). Scrub the floor thoroughly with a solution of 1 gallon hot water and 1 cup TSP. Rinse. Let it dry at least 48 hours.
- 2). Snap two intersecting lines across the middle of the concrete floor with your chalk snap line, dividing the room into four even squares.
- 3). Apply tile adhesive over the center of the floor, covering the point where the two lines cross, over enough area to encompass several tiles. The intersection of the lines should still be visible through the adhesive.
- 4). Set the first tile into one of the corners formed by the intersection, pressing it into the adhesive so it's completely down.
- 5). Set additional tiles around the first one, laying them so the sides butt up against one another. Add more adhesive and build out along the lines, toward the walls.
- 6). Install all the full tiles that will fit in the room, leaving space at the walls where full tiles won't fit. Let the full tiles set overnight.
- 7). Measure the spaces at the edges of the room and cut tiles to fit, using a utility knife to score and snap them. Lay them in adhesive as before, with the cut sides facing the walls. Let them set overnight.
