How to Trim Dead Palm Fronds

    Removing Dead Palm Fronds

    • 1). Check to see if the frond is indeed dead. A dead palm frond is not firmly rooted into the palm, so a gentle pull can bring it right out of the plant.

    • 2). If gentle pulling does not work, use a small pair of gardening scissors and trim off fronds that are close to the bottom and already completely brown. Trim the dead fronds to within 2 inches of the trunk. Keeping 2 inches will help prevent disease.

    • 3). Use a ladder or extension saw to reach higher fronds.
