How to Start Plants in a Greenhouse

    • 1). Decide what you will grow. Purchase your seeds and other planting supplies. Make sure your greenhouse is set up and ready to use. Gather your supplies to get started.

    • 2). Lay out your planting containers and fill just below the brim with the seed starting soil mix. Break up any large clumps of soil, making sure the soil is spread evenly.

    • 3). Poke small holes in the soil at the center of each container and carefully place seeds into the holes. You can poke the holes with your fingers or use another object such as a pencil. Be sure to follow the directions on each seed packet as to how many seeds you should plant in each container.

    • 4). Cover the seeds with the soil.

    • 5). Spray the planted seeds with water. If you wish, you can now add plant food or fertilizer to your pots. Be sure to follow the directions of the fertilizer you have purchased.

    • 6). Write out and attach labels for each container so that you remember what you have planted.

    • 7). Place the containers into the plant flats and arrange inside your greenhouse.

    • 8). Watch for your plants to start growing.
