- 1). Bury your bulb in the soil up to its neck. If planting in groups, space your bulbs out about 2 inches apart.
- 2). Plant bulbs that have sprouted roots in a hole large enough to accommodate the root growth. Before placing the spouted bulbs in the planting hole, add a handful of bone meal to it. This will provide nutrients to growing roots, making the plant stronger.
- 3). Water the bulbs thoroughly just after planting and as often as needed. The soil should be kept damp but not overly so.
- 1). Remove any blockages that will prevent your bulb palm from getting full sun. This may mean trimming back tree limbs or surrounding bushes. These plants enjoy morning and afternoon sun best.
- 2). Water mature palms as they need it. It is not necessary to water every day. Check for dryness by placing your finger in the soil of the palm. If you can feel no dampness then you should water your plant. On average, water your plant weekly. Give your plant water in the morning hours.
- 3). Fertilize your palm twice a year, once in the spring to help the plant with new growth, and then late in the summer. A 10-10-10 fertilizer is fine for palms.
