- 1). Remove all items from the cupboard and set aside. Throw away any food items that may be the source of mold or mildew. If the cupboard contains old shelf paper that may be mildewing, remove and discard (if it is difficult to remove, use a scraper, a lot of dish soap and water to loosen the adhesive).
- 2). Vacuum out the cupboard using a hand vacuum (unless you had to remove shelf paper, using soap and water). If you don't own one, dust out crumbs and dust with a clean dry rag.
- 3). Fill a sink basin half full of hot water. Add 1 tbsp. or 2 of dish detergent and dampen a sponge. Put on household rubber gloves and thoroughly scrub the shelves of the cupboard to remove mildew.
- 4). Let the water out of the sink and rinse the sponge under warm water. Wipe the cupboard shelves again to rinse off detergent residue.
- 5). Refill the sink with 1 cup of warm water. Add 1 cup of white vinegar to this. Dip the sponge in this and wipe down the cupboard once again. Let the cupboard air dry.
