How to Eat Daylilies

    • 1). Dig up the daylilies you want to cook with. It is important that you get the root tubers because they are also edible.

    • 2). Wash your daylilies off with cold water. They will be covered in dirt from just coming out of your flower garden.

    • 3). Cut off the flower buds. Add the buds to a pot of boiling water. Drain the boiling water out once the flower buds have become soft. Sprinkle with a tiny bit of salt and pepper and serve as a side dish.

    • 4). Remove the petals from the daylily flower and sprinkle them over your salad. Organic Valley also states that daylily flowers taste great when fried. An egg batter can be used to do this.

    • 5). Remove the tubers from the roots of the daylily plants. According to The Lily Flower Store, these tubers are 1 inch long and resemble the shape of a football. You can eat them after they have been boiled for 15 minutes in a pot of salted water.
