- 1). Sweep the floor to remove loose dirt, dust and debris. Use a vacuum cleaner with a hard floor setting or an attachment hose, or use a broom and dust pan.
- 2). Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of warm water. Add 1/2 cup white vinegar.
- 3). Dip a mop into the bucket and wring it out well. Mop the floor, overlapping your mop strokes to ensure no part of the floor is missed. Rinse and wring out the mop often.
- 4). Fill an empty spray bottle with equal parts vegetable oil and white vinegar for shining wood floors. Shake the bottle a couple of times to mix up the ingredients.
- 5). Spray a small amount of the mixture onto the wood floor and rub it in well with a cotton cloth. Work in sections about 2 feet wide to ensure that you cover the entire wood floor. Go over each section with a clean cotton cloth to remove any excess vinegar and oil mixture.
