How to Defreeze a Honey Hole

    • 1). Cut any excess branches off of the first 5 inches of the base of the tree. This will allow it to sit properly in the cinder block.

    • 2). Place the block on the piece of wood, ensuring the opening on the bottom is completely covered.

    • 3). Mix the small bag of cement, according to the manufacturer's instructions, in the large bucket.

    • 4). Place the base of the tree in the cinder block, holding the rest of the tree upright.

    • 5). Pour in the cement around the base of the tree, filling the entire opening. Lean it against a solid object like a wall, if needed, to keep it upright.

    • 6). Allow the cement to set according to the manufacturer's directions.

    • 7). Choose the area where you want the honey hole, ensuring the ice around it is safe to walk on. Cut through the ice using the ax.

    • 8). Cut the hole large enough to fit the tree. Sink the tree where you desire, as soon as it is set.
