- 1). Select a plastic tackle tray with a secure latch lid in a size that will accommodate the size, shape and quantity of baits you want to include. Arrange the internal dividers based on the bait size and leave a compartment for hooks, weights and other terminal tackle.
- 2). Select a soft plastic worm to include in the bait kit that is 5 to 7 inches in length. Choose a black, brown, green or blue worm when first creating a bait kit. Substitute a color pattern with which you have had success or use basic colors as a starting point for the kit.
- 3). Include creature baits in the bass kit. Choose centipedes, lizards and other baits designed to imitate natural live food on which bass feast. Include one or two color patterns of grubs in the kit.
- 4). Add toads or frogs to the plastic bait kit. Choose a dark green, black, blue or white toad to include in the kit, as these are versatile baits and are fished on top and below the water surface.
- 5). Add offset worm hooks, extra-wide-gap hooks, circle hooks, egg weights, bullet weights, swivels and other terminal tackle such as beads in the kit. Include terminal tackle in the kit to be used for rigging the soft plastic baits in a variety of methods including Texas, Carolina and split rig.
