I am always asked by others from out of town "What's happening in Peterborough, Ontario?" Some of them ask me like they are expecting my answer to me "Oh, nothing!" But that is the furthest thing from the truth that there is.
In fact Peterborough Ontario is one of those small city's where there is a little bit for everyone.
For a lot of people Peterborough is known as an outdoors town.
A place to go and get away from the bright lights and busy lifestyle of Toronto or Ottawa, and in a way that is true.
There are literally tons of cottages and resorts sprinkled in and around Peterborough that will make an amazing vacation spot for anyone interested in visiting.
In fact, the outdoors is one of Peterborough's biggest selling features, but thats not all that there is.
The city of Peterborough is approximately 75,000 large, and in the summer months the tourists make that number bubble up to well over 100 thousand.
Some of the best places to visit are the Landsdowne Place Mall, which has recently overgone a facelift, and is now one of the nicest malls this side of the Eatons Center in downtown Toronto.
There are a ton of great stores in this mall and you can find anything that you really want.
Another really cool place to visit is George St, in downtown Peterborough.
There is a serious re-vitalization going on there and the shops on the street are second to none in their deals and their assortment of different specialties is really amazing as well.
Of course there is some awesome fishing in the city of Peterborough, in fact the city boasts the largest free standing liftlock system in all of North America, it is a real sight to see and if you are in Peterborough make sure you go and get your picture taken beside one of the many locks.
These locks provide the perfect place to fish.
The fish just love to accumulate be some of the locks in Peterborough and it makes for some really awesome catches.
If you are an outdoors man or just wanting to try something new then you should really take it up.
Even if you are not much of an angler, you can always live release the fish.
So, there are a few of the hundreds of things to do in Peterborough.
