How to Make Lines in InDesign

    • 1). Select the “Line” tool from the Tools panel on the left hand side of the screen.

    • 2). Click and drag inside the document from the desired starting point for the line. Hold down the “Shift” key to constrain the line to a vertical, horizontal or 45-degree angle.

    • 3). Release the mouse at the desired end point for the line.

    • 4). Enter the desired length in the “L” box in the Control Panel, located at the top of the screen, to create an exact length.

    • 5). Double-click on the “Stroke” icon. Select the desired color for the line.

    • 6). Click on the “Window” menu and select “Stroke.” Select the desired stroke size from the “Weight” drop-down menu.

    • 7). Click on the "Type" drop-down menu. Select the desired style of line. To create your own line style, select "Stroke Style" from the flyout menu.
