How to Replace an iPhone Back to Make the Sides Flush

    • 1). Turn the iPod over and locate the rubber plate on the bottom of the device.

    • 2). Insert the tip of your case opener tool in the seam between the top of the rubber plate and the back panel of the iPhone. A case opener tool can be purchased from any electronics store.

    • 3). Work your way around the seam until the rubber plate pops off. Set it aside.

    • 4). Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws on either side of the bottom of the back case. Once the screws are removed, lift the damaged back case from the device.

    • 5). Replace it with the new back case (available from your Apple retailer or online) and align it so that the sides are flush against the front half of the iPhone.

    • 6). Replace the screws and rubber plate and you are done.
