- 1). Download the latest version of iTunes from Apple's website and follow the instructions to install and run the program. Be sure to download the version of iTunes that is compatible with Windows Vista. If you already have iTunes installed, open the program.
- 2). Use the USB cable to connect the iPod to the computer. Wait for iTunes to recognize the iPod. Once the iPod appears in the menu to the left side of the iTunes window, select it with your mouse.
- 3). When the iPod menu appears in the main iTunes window, click on the "Music" tab. In the Music menu, click to check the box next to "Sync Music." You may select either "Entire music library" or "Selected playlists, artists, and genres." If you choose the second option, click on the items you wish to put on your iPod.
- 4). Click "Apply" and wait for the syncing process to complete. Both your iPod's display and iTunes will change the message shown when syncing is complete.
