How to Put a Hook on a Rubber Worm

    • 1). Pick the right size hook for the fish you are after. A tiny hook will work with a tiny rubber worm, and a big hook is needed for a big worm--the reverse will not work.

    • 2). Grasp the worm with one hand, usually your non-dominant hand, and carefully pick up the hook with your other hand. It is usually more effective and safer to do this while sitting comfortably.

    • 3). Poke the barb end through the fattest part of the worm--usually the "head" of the fake worm. Curl the worm up and pierce the middle of the worm. Some people like to have the barb exposed in the belief that it will catch a fish more effectively. Others embed the hook in the body because they they think that a fish may feel the point and spit it out before the hook can be set.
