- 1). Put the dishes back in the dishwasher, but remove silverware and metal items.
- 2). Pour 2 cups of white vinegar in a dishwasher-safe cup, and balance it in the bottom rack.
- 3). Start the dishwasher cycle, and don't use detergent. The vinegar will mix with the water and remove the white hard water spots.
- 4). Remove the dishes, and dry them completely.
- 5). Add just enough white vinegar to 1 cup of baking soda to make a thick paste if you can still see white spots on the dishes. These white spots are stubborn hard water stains that you'll need to scrub off.
- 6). Rub the paste over the spots until they are gone.
- 7). Rinse the dishes with clear water, and dry them completely.
