- 1). Plug in your old MP3 player to your computer using its USB sync cable.
- 2). Go to your start menu, and select "My Computer."
- 3). Double-click on the drive that represents your MP3 player. Then locate and double-click on the "Music" folder inside.
- 4). Drag your music from the Music folder and drop it in a folder on your computer.
- 5). Launch iTunes. You can download the program for free at itunes.com.
- 6). Plug in your new iPod with its USB cable and wait for the iTunes software to recognize the device. If this is your first time using your iPod with iTunes, iTunes will prompt you to sync the device with the software and name the device.
- 7). Select a playlist under your device name (e.g. Will's iPod) in the left pane of the iTunes window. You can create a new playlist by clicking on the "File" menu at the top of the interface, and selecting "New Playlist."
- 8). Drag the downloaded music file that you saved on your computer to the playlist window on iTunes. The songs will then sync to your new iPod.
